Consensus Missing?
Why do we live the way we are living? Is it due to a common consensus? to ignorance? to material circumstances? to facts? to social relations? to obedience? to belief in authority? to a mere struggle for survival? to politics? to economy? to history? to fate?
I think, we do so, because we do not know better. We are caught in doubts, mistrust and fears. Thus we cling to hopes, which shall provide some sense to our being, or at least to the one of our successors. But what could this sense be?
If our hopes are answers to doubts, mistrust and fear, they shall free us from these burdens. And what comes forth when being freed of burden? It is mere life, the fact of consciously being. We want our conscious to be free of doubt, mistrust and fear, we want it strong and filled not only with hopes, but with truth and confidence for the sake of life. Lacking such truth, we rely on theories, on concepts, on experience, on science, if not on supernatural order and power to enforce it.
Still, all these means of mind are content of conscience, while vice versa conscience is a reflection of our way of life. We keep the results, the decisions, failures and successes in our mind, thus our conscience is coming alive to guide us. Nothing is wrong with that method, but apparently it stopped working todays. Are we facing big lies when listening to programs and policies? or are we facing a lack of knowledge badly camouflaged by promises?
We can see so many things go wrong, but we are taught, that our system was right and even more, it was the only one possible and thinkable. We want peace, and have war. We want prosperity, and have poverty. We want health, and have children unnecessarily dying. We want to learn, and are entertained. We want to decide, and are to vote. We want to speak, and are to listen. We want to believe, and become fooled. We want to live, and are to function. 5000 years of culture were not enough for society to become mature? What's wrong with man?
The only explanation I can think of, is, that our actual social system has outlived its competence. It surpassed its borders of reason, when finance capital emerged out of productive capital. When money stopped buying labour, it went mad, since its owners lost their conscience what they are doing. The only logic of finance capital is to grow larger and more brutal, which is not the logic of life, but of cancer. This way human society is infected with its most severe decease since it arouse. This is not meant as a polemic, it's the view of a surgeon. I stopped trusting a social system which is following the logic of cancer, if cancer has any.
So what to do? Most politics turned to a mental slave of money. Even fundamentalists in fact are bowing to the power of money, while in words are propagating destruction and re-erection of society accordingly to some dogmas. But dogmas can only be believed by people who refuse to think on their own.
There are some positive exceptions, when governments take a tight grip on economy. But the imbalance of powers is evident, and so these exceptions are passing. Finance capital is madly ruling the world and we keep staring at aghast. Our consensus is vanishing, but we do not have an answer. This is the crux of the situation. We would really like to know better, but we don't.
It's true, I don't know better myself. But I see so many ideas arising all over the world, so many proposals vanishing in history, because we fail to organise and give it a try. The entire population of this planet is on the verge of knowing, how to shape a proper social system. While we are listening to dated theories and rulers, we already feel else in our hearts, our minds are already longing for a new attempt that comes out from amidst of us. We are on the edge of making history and just need a voice to inspire us by saying: start on Your own, now it's Your turn. But finally, this voice is our own one, it arises in ourselves, it is our conscience.
So all we need is making us mutually heard. We need not wait and shall not wait for anyone or anything else. We just need to start. Though, our conscience shall not be reduced to comments, it must be made of decisions. Let us decide how to live, it will be for the sake of life.
